Hi,

my name is Stuart Gilmour and I am the director and Secretary of Void Avoidance Ltd, I'd just like to say a few things before you have a look at our business description, aims and objectives.

When I think about my own life now at 27 years old and look back over the last ten years, I can admit much rgeret, and too many memories of pain, struggle and failure which was in most cases self-inflicted. I have suffered pain and difficulty at the hands of many activities, pass-times and habits, such as recreational drug-use, alcohol misuse, deliberate self-injury, and others that I will not mention in this introduction.

Could this have been prevented? the answer to that is most definately yes, I could have made different decisions, but then, maybe I never truly realised the negative impact these things would have had on my life, things from which I am still recovering, and in many ways still struggle with.

I know this is not a unique case, and having spent so much of my time amongst the night life and entertainment scene in Scotlands, busy Glasgow, I witnessed dozens of people going through similar trials, experienced many a discussion with old friends and new about these very issues, and having worked with a Health Promotions charity since 2005, researching and delivering lessons to High Schools, I have encountered concerning statistics that reveal how depressed, and in struggle our western culture really is.

While we may have wealth, public services, peace in our own countries, education, an abundance of entertainment, amongst other things, we see children and teenagers, more angry, more depressed with more complaints than those children and teenagers of the developing world that seem never to fail in giving a smile, or being thankful for what they have, when in reality they have very little.

We have gross statitsic relating to alcohol and drug misuse, thousands of relationships failing every year, thousands of people infected with sexually transmitted infections, hundreds of teenagers cutting themselves and giving others similar ideas, we have thousands of people on anti-depressants and beta blockers, violence is never too far around the corner, and the list could go on and on.

Void Avoidance Ltd, wants to be part of a movement that recognises these problems, spreads the word and in some way contributes to the changing of these realites for the better. Read below:

Current Description, Aims and Objectives 

Void Avoidance is a business founded on Christian principles, dedicated to raising awareness of self-harming behaviours, and the linking of those affected by them to sources of help, through  events and entertainment methods, the provision of education and health promotion services, and the selling of quality alternative Music, Atrt and Entertainment products.

Aims

1.  To raise Awareness of Self-harming behaviours: such as, self-injury, recreational drug use,                    alcohol misuse, and sexual promiscuity, amongst others.
